Kas arukask (Betula pendula) omastab lehtedega kastevett?

Abstract

Bakalaureusetöö peamine eesmärk on välja selgitada, kas arukask (Betula pendula) omastab lehtedega kastevett. Lisaks uuriti, kas koidueelsel ajal esineb lehtede ja mulla vaheline veepotentsiaalide tasakaalustamatus ning millistest keskkonnafaktoritest see sõltub. Veel uuriti, kas õhu kunstlik niisutamine mõjutab uuritavaid parameetreid. Katse viidi läbi metsaökosüsteemi õhuniiskusega manipuleerimise (Free Air Humidity Manipulation, FAHM) katsealal, mille katseringid jagunevad kontroll- ja niisutusringideks. Viimastes toimub õhu kunstlik niisutamine. Läbi viidud mõõtmiste tulemused näitasid, et tingimustes, kus puudel ei esine veedefitsiiti, arukase lehed kastevett ei omasta. Küll aga esines koidu eel lehtede ja mulla vaheline veepotentsiaalide tasakaalustamatus, mille peamiseks põhjuseks oli öine transpiratsioon. Õhu kunstlikul niisutamisel mingit mõju uuritavatele tunnustele ei leitud.
