Arrecifes artificiales como medidas de restauración de hábitats marinos costeros

Abstract

Dentro de las medidas de restauración y rehabilitación de ecosistemas costeros, los arrecifes artificiales representan una herramienta de ordenación y protección ecológica. Hay numerosos ejemplos a nivel mundial donde estas estructuras se han usado para realizar varias funciones, entre ellas la protección física de ecosistemas sensibles y frágiles, la adición o reposición de la complejidad de hábitat, la creación de nuevos sustratos y la sustitución de un recurso socioeconómico, entre otros.
