The distinction frequently made between organic pain ("real") and functional or psychogenic pain ("unreal") is critically examined here. In this paper, the authors suggest the necessity to discard the aforementioned distinction in favor of an approach which assess the multidimensionality of the pain problem.

El presente trabajo examina críticamente la distinción entre dolor orgánico ("real") y dolor funcional y/o psicógeno ("irreal"). Tras el análisis efectuado, los autores sugieren la necesidad de abandonar tal distinción y la conveniencia de evaluar el dolor desde una perspectiva multidimensional.
