Inteligencia emocional, autoconcepto y adquisición de competencias

Abstract

El interés por profundizar en el papel que ejercen las emociones en el ajuste psicosocial y académico del alumnado ha aumentado considerablemente, cobrando importancia el concepto de inteligencia emocional. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue evaluar la relación entre el grado de inteligencia emocional y el autoconcepto en alumnos del Grado de Magisterio. Los participantes fueron 146 estudiantes matriculados en el Grado de Magisterio de Primaria de la Universidad de Alicante. La edad de los participantes osciló entre los 18 y 34 años (M = 26.45; DT = 2.87). Se les administró de forma colectiva el Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24 para la evaluación de la inteligencia emocional y el Cuestionario de Autoconcepto. Los resultados mostraron que: (a) la Comprensión Emocional actuaba como una variable predictiva del Autoconcepto Académico y del Autoconcepto Familiar; (b) la Atención, Comprensión y Reparación Emocional actuaban como variables predictivas del Autoconcepto Emocional; y (c) la Reparación Emocional actuaba como una variable predictiva del Autoconcepto Social y Físico. A la luz de los resultados obtenidos, se deduce que la inteligencia emocional está fuertemente asociada a las características que conforman el autoconcepto, lo que va a favorecer una adaptación exitosa al medio. Las implicaciones prácticas de los resultados son discutidas.
