El desarrollo de la personalidad eficaz en la formación inicial de los maestros: situación y prospectivas

Abstract

Tradicionalmente en la enseñanza universitaria solo se ha considerado el rendimiento académico como resultado final, a pesar de que este es un concepto multidimensional donde uno de los factores relevantes es el desarrollo de la personalidad. Este estudio toma como referencia la caracterización de la personalidad eficaz entendida como el conjunto de características personales que permiten enfrentarse de forma pertinente al entorno. El objetivo del trabajo es investigar si la docencia en las diferentes asignaturas contribuye a desarrollar la personalidad eficaz de los futuros maestros. En la investigación participan voluntariamente 177 estudiantes del primer año del Grado de Maestro en Educación Primaria que cursan la asignatura de Teoría e Historia de la Educación (THE) y 126 alumnos que cursan otras asignaturas. Se ha utilizado un instrumento diseñado específicamente para los fines de este estudio que fue validado a través de la técnica de expertos. Los estudiantes señalan que el rasgo de la personalidad más desarrollado en la docencia es “ser respetuoso” y “exigir respeto”, mientras que el menos trabajado en THE y otras asignaturas es “ser imparcial”. Los resultados constituyen una llamada de atención para reconsiderar una docencia orientada no solo al aprendizaje de contenidos sino también al desarrollo de la personalidad eficaz de los estudiantes.
