Abstract

La construcción de cubiertas verdes, tanto en la nueva construcción como en la rehabilitación de edificios, se ha entendido siempre como una alternativa sostenible a las cubiertas convencionales. La implantación de sistemas vegetales en la cubierta de los edificios aporta innumerables ventajas para el medioambiente, además de un ahorro energético por parte del usuario. Pero, ¿por qué en la mayoría de edificaciones de nuestro país no se adopta esta medida? Esta incongruencia conlleva a pensar que podría deberse a un alto coste en su ejecución. Por ello, es necesario realizar un estudio económico que compare el coste de ejecución de una cubierta verde de tipo extensivo con el de otras cubiertas comúnmente utilizadas en la actualidad, pero teniendo en cuenta que cada tipología de cubierta aporte las mismas prestaciones térmicas que la cubierta verde. Tras el estudio realizado, se comprueba como las cubiertas verdes de tipo extensivo, además de ser una medida que consigue transformar las áreas urbanas en ambientes más sostenibles, aportando, con ello, calidad de vida a los ciudadanos, también son una medida económica alternativa a las cubiertas convencionales.
