Tejiendo la resiliencia en el acogimiento familiar

Abstract

La investigación sobre maltrato infantil nos muestra a menudo la biografía de menores que, pese a haber pasado por situaciones muy adversas, han podido superar sus dificultades y salir adelante. Con frecuencia en estas historias el principal factor de resiliencia de un menor maltratado es la presencia de una persona que le trasmita aceptación y cariño pues no se es resiliente uno solo (Lecomte y Manciaux, 2005). Cuando, tras la separación de la familia de origen, se constituye un acogimiento familiar, la familia acogedora, ha de convertirse en tutor de resiliencia, y constituir un ambiente de protección y contención que permita, en palabras de Cyrulnick (2002) tejer la resiliencia del menor, acompañándole en la superación de sus dificultades y afrontando los retos y crisis inherentes al acogimiento. En este trabajo se examinan las cualidades resilientes que presenta una muestra de familias acogedoras medidas mediante la Escala de Resiliencia de Wagnild y Young (1993), y analiza la posible relación entre estas cualidades y determinadas características de los acogimientos que realizan. La hipótesis de partida es que los/las acogedores con altos niveles de resiliencia afrontan de forma más competente los retos del acogimiento familiar y manifiestan un mayor grado de satisfacción con el mismo.
