Abstract

Este artículo presenta un diagnóstico de la preparación que muestra el alumnado ante la elaboración de un Trabajo de Fin de Grado (TFG) correspondiente al Grado en Estudios Ingleses. Nos hemos propuesto como objetivos, primero, conocer las dificultades con las que los estudiantes seleccionados se enfrentan durante la fase de preparación del TFG; y, segundo, una vez conocidas esas necesidades, formulamos una propuesta de acciones prioritarias para corregir las disfunciones detectadas. Como método, hemos administrado una encuesta entre un 61% del total de estudiantes relevantes a efectos estadísticos, a quienes les hemos preguntado sobre cinco bloques temáticos, a saber, escritura académica, acceso a la información, desarrollo de líneas temáticas, plagio y, por último, responsabilidad individual. Los resultados de la encuesta apuntan a la existencia de carencias serias en cuanto a la escritura académica en inglés —que afectan a más del 90% de los encuestados—, baja formación sobre el uso de recursos bibliográficos y electrónicos, deseos de disponer de total libertad en la elección del tema y una incidencia de plagio elevada. Tras analizar esos resultados hemos propuesto incidir más en la enseñanza del inglés académico, facilitar la libre elección de tema, sancionar disciplinariamente las conductas plagiarias y elaborar guías de recursos para maximizar los materiales académicos que están disponibles.
