Abstract

En esta investigación se estudia la distribución de las orientaciones etnocéntricas en varios países. Para ello se han utilizado los datos procedentes de la Fundación Pew, Global Attitude Project, de 2011. Para ello, se ha efectuado un análisis de correspondencias con normalización simétrica entre las variables de País y opinión sobre la superioridad cultural según opina el entrevistado. Dos dimensiones dan cuenta de forma significativa de la inercia. La primera se refiere al porcentaje o extensión que en la opinión pública se apoyan expresiones etnocéntricas. La segunda, muestra el grado de asertividad que es empleado en las sociedades consideradas. En definitiva, la mayor o menor probabilidad al emplear categorías extremas en la opinión sobre la superioridad cultural. Se aprecia como existe una cierta relación entre el grado de “occidentalización” y la reducción del porcentaje de opinión pública en el país que defiende la superioridad cultural sobre los demás. En términos de asertividad, evidentemente, esta es mayor en las sociedades más etnocéntricas, así como en las que lo son en menor grado.
