Preámbulo: Filipinas vis-à-vis Hispanidad

Abstract

La cultura es una construcción humana para dar sentido antropológico a las formas de adaptación y comprehensión del ser con su entorno y consigo mismo. Si estos signos antrópicos se hacen recurrentes, permanentes y alcanzan un alto grado de sofisticación capaz de influir decididamente sobre una percepción del mundo, las bases culturales acaban siendo civilizacionales. La civilización no es un estadio superior a la cultura, sino el fruto de heterogéneos procesos en los cuales la cultura es un elemento clave, y del que irremediablemente se nutren las sociedades para habituarse al tiempo y al espacio. En tal sentido, las formas de adaptación que a través de percepciones hispánicas tuvieron que desarrollarse para la explicación y aprehensión del espacio asiático - cuando los españoles aparecieron en el archipiélago filipino - son uno de los elementos decisivos que dan entidad a la conformación civilizacional del mundo filipino. La cultura hispánica que se desarrolló en Asia fue evolucionando conforme a las necesidades humanas que exigía tal situación paradigmática, y actualmente podemos decir que sus resultados son visibles en Filipinas, cuya sociedad ha adoptado elementos culturales hispánicos en su definición antropológica. En definitiva, en este momento en que afrontamos un siglo frenético y un mundo en constante cambio, la sociedad filipina ha adquirido tal grado de constancia que está en ciernes de definirse como civilización, en la cual se ha hecho uso evidente del elemento hispánico.
