Las secuencias de sequía, evento propio de la Península Ibérica por su filiación subtropical, constituyen un riesgo climático con grandes repercusiones sobre los sistemas de abastecimiento de agua potable. El análisis de las causas atmosféricas y de sus efectos sobre los suministros de agua potable en España son aspectos que aborda este trabajo. Sus repercusiones se explican con perspectiva regional, a partir de factores de oferta y de demanda de agua, y valorando la participación de infraestructuras como los trasvases y el empleo de recursos no convencionales. Finalmente, se evalúan los efectos de las sequías sobre los principales sistemas regionales de abastecimiento existentes en España, junto con las estrategias adoptadas para garantizar los suministros de agua potable.

The sequences of drought, own event of the Iberian Peninsula for his subtropical filiation, constitute a climatic risk with big repercussions on the systems of supply of drinkable water. The analysis of the atmospheric reasons and of their effects on the supplies of drinkable water in Spain they are aspects that this work approaches. Their repercussions explain, with regional perspective, from offer’s factors and water demand factors, and valuing the existence of infrastructures, as the transfers and the employment of not conventional resources. Finally, there are evaluated the effects of the droughts on the main regional existing systems of supply in Spain, together with the adopted strategies it stops to guarantee the supplies of drinkable water.
