Abstract

A partir de quatre fotografies antigues i actuals d'un mateix angle d'Elx (cantó dels carrers actuals de la Porta de la Morera i de Daoíz), en aquest article es planteja com la transformació urbana d'Elx en l'època moderna s'ha fet a base de definir i redefinir, una i una altra vegada, el límit entre els horts de palmeres ancestrals que envolten la vila i els ravals i la ciutat compacta en creixement continu des de final del segle XIX, un procés que s'ha accelerat el darrer mig segle
