Just for fun: de industrias culturales a industrias del ocio

Abstract

El artículo repasa la evolución del concepto de Industria Cultural, desde su origen teórico-crítico, pasando por su consagración institucional y académica, además de comercial, para llegar a su dilución reciente en fórmulas más brumosas, como “Industrias del Ocio” o “del Entretenimiento”. Esos deslizamientos terminológicos rubrican la deriva del concepto de cultura, íntimamente asociada a nuevos espacios y tiempos de su disfrute, a mutaciones tecnológicas de los productos culturales, a cambios en la titularidad de sus proveedores, así como de los roles de autor, actor y espectador, y también del educador que debe lidiar con estas cuestiones. De coto vedado de la excelencia creadora y la contemplación reverente (sin duda restrictivo y elitista), la cultura no ha dejado de verse sacudida por tensiones, que en algunos casos la han dilatado (la cultura como práctica, uso, costumbre, entre las que las selectas no eran más “culturales” que las populares o masivas) y en otras la han disminuido por “inundación” (cuando la cultura, sea alta o baja, comparece en pie de igualdad con los deportes, el turismo, los juegos de azar, la restauración y la ingesta de bebidas alcohólicas, en una especie de leisure-mix).
