En este trabajo pretendemos realizar una aproximación a la situación en que se encontraba la ciudad de Palencia en el último cuarto del siglo XVIII, así como la manera en que incidió sobre ella el reformismo de Carlos III y sus ministros; para ello analizaremos las diferentes medidas diseñadas, y en algunos casos adoptadas, por los agentes del monarca a nivel territorial –corregidores: su implicación en la reforma de la economía, el fomento de las obras públicas, saneamiento, educación…

In this paper we intend to make an approximation to the situation in which the city of Palencia found itself in the last quarter of the 18th century, as well as the way in which the reformism of Carlos III and his ministers affected it; to do this, we will analyze the different measures designed, and in some cases adopted, by the monarch's agents on the territory –corregidores: their involvement in the reform of the economy, the promotion of public works, sanitation, education...
