Moriscos y descendientes de moriscos. Narración, memoria y justicia transicional

Abstract

In 2009, a meeting held in Granada on the “moriscos” (Moorish), on the occasion of the fourth centenary of their expulsion in 1609, put a consensual end to the historical narrative. However, the debate on memory, embodied in the Maghrebi descendants of the Moorish, and on reparations, was kept alive. Several facts –approval by the Spanish parliament of a non-legislative proposal, proposal for the Prince of Asturias award, etc.–. The author, based on the complexity of the relationship between social memory, historical narrative and transitional justice, with suffering as a key element, interpret the current situation of the Moorish presence in Spain and the Maghreb.
