Estratigrafía del Mioceno Medio y Superior al NW de Crevillente (Alicante)

Abstract

The stratigraphy and nanofossil assemblages of the southern border of the Crevillente Sierra, Els Pontets section, is studied. The Miocene succession can be divided in several lithologic units: El Castellà limestones (early-middle Serravallian), Les Moreres Marls Fm (middle-late Serravallian), Raya del Búho Conglomerates and Calcarenites Fm (Serravallian ?- early Tortonian), Galería de los Suizos marls (middle-late Tortonian), and the Ventanas limestones (latest Tortonian). The lower marly interval, Les Moreres Marls Fm, can be correlated with the lower "tap marls"; the upper interval, Galería de los Suizos marls, with the upper "tap marls".
