Abstract

SUMMARY: Within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the curriculum of the new university degrees has been developed under the Competency based Learning (CBL) paradigm. The evaluation process under the CBL model is constructed from the concept of “domain level” of competence achieved by the students. However, different definitions have been proposed so far for this concept that, although correct, is incomplete and/or ambiguous. In this paper we propose a clear, complete and accurate definition of the concept of “domain level” of competence definition, which generalizes the different interpretations found in the literature, through a series of parameters. These parameters provide enough flexibility to implement this definition to particular interpretations. This definition has facilitated its acceptance by the faculty of our department, in order to be implemented in the definition of the curriculum of Computer Science graduate studies at the “Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Informática de Albacete”.
