Abstract

Las habilidades/competencias no cognitivas (NCS – non-cognitive skills) son habilidades centradas en los comportamientos y las actitudes que se consideran un subconjunto específico de las llamadas soft skills. Los empleadores y los expertos en recursos humanos las consideran muy importantes para la empleabilidad, priorizando este tipo de habilidades frente a las habilidades técnicas para una ocupación. A pesar de esta importancia, la situación actual en este ámbito está lastrada tanto por la falta de homogeneidad en la terminología y los conceptos como por la ausencia de estándares ampliamente aceptados. El proyecto Skills Match ha contribuido a resolver esta situación, creando en primer lugar un marco sólido de NCS que permite un nuevo enfoque para analizar la demanda de habilidades en ocupaciones específicas mediante el uso de datos abiertos de grandes iniciativas de la UE como ESCO u OVATE. A partir de la combinación de datos de distintas fuentes, es posible determinar con eficacia las NCS recomendadas para cada tipo de empleo en informática permitiendo a los docentes orientar la formación a los estudiantes.

Non cognitive skills (NCS) are considered a specific subset of the so-called soft skills focused on behaviors and attitudes. Employers and human resources experts agree on their importance for employability, prioritizing this type of skills versus specific knowledge or skills for an occupation. Albeit its importance, the present scenario is hindered by the lack of homogeneity in terminology and concepts as well as the absence of widely used standards. The Skills Match project has contributed to solve this situation, firstly creating a solid NCS framework which, in the end, enables a new approach to analyze the demand of skills in specific occupations with open data from big EU initiatives like ESCO or OVATE. This new approach and the results of data analysis allows us to explain the most demanded and recommended NCS for ICT job positions, which will allow teachers to adapt the students’ training.
