Digitalisation, whose best-known exponent is Big Data and which has been the prelude to what has come to be known as the "fourth industrial revolution", is the most transcendental technological phenomenon in the recent history of humanity. The progress generated by the great technical advances achieved in the wake of this phenomenon translates into new tools and gadgets that save lives, prevent humanitarian and ecological catastrophes, facilitate our existence to an unsuspected extent and even bring new individuals to our planet with whom we can interact as if they were human beings. However, like all technology, there is a dark side. That which comes from the abusive and malevolent application of such tools for the benefit of a few to the detriment of all mankind. The risks inherent in the great potential of these tools through their abuse can cause major disruptions in our economy and society, which, as we know, are increasingly "hyper-connected". The violation of our privacy and intimacy is one of these risks and, together with the analysis of the benefits of Blockchain technology in order to effectively mitigate them, is the subject of this paper.
