Abstract

El Programa de Acción Tutorial se pone en funcionamiento durante el curso académico 2005-2006 en la Universidad de Alicante; desde entonces, se ha trabajado en su mejora para tutorizar cada año a un número mayor de estudiantado universitario. Debido al aumento de la demanda y a la necesidad de apoyar al profesorado-tutor, surge la figura del estudiante-mentor. Tras casi diez ediciones donde se constata su presencia continuada en distintas facultades, se hace necesario analizar la idoneidad de su papel para el desarrollo y fortalecimiento de la acción tutorial en esta Universidad. Para lograr este objetivo, en primer lugar, debemos conocer la evolución de este programa y, en segundo lugar, radiografiar la situación actual planteando una serie de entrevistas estructuradas a los coordinadores de centro y al alumnado-mentor. Por último, nos centraremos en los testimonios al respecto dentro del Grado en Turismo. Con los resultados obtenidos de la triangulación de los datos, podremos desarrollar nuevas estrategias para fortalecer esta figura dentro de la acción tutorial y, por ende, de la comunidad universitaria para llegar a un mayor número de estudiantes y, así, atender a sus necesidades generales y particulares en el Grado en Turismo y poder, de acuerdo con la idiosincrasia de cada grado, extrapolarlas al resto de estudios universitarios.
