Abstract

Gákti er en sentral rolle i samisk identitet og tilhørighet. Med røtter dypt forankret i samisk kultur og historie formidler gákti samisk stolthet og tradisjon gjennom generasjoner. I tillegg til sin betydning som klesplagg har gákti også funnet veien inn i samtidskunsten, hvor kunstnere som Gjert Rognli og Outi Pieski utforsker gákti sin rolle som et utrykk på identitet og kulturell arv. Tematisk kan gákti representere historie, kultur, samfunnsmessige strukturer, og identitet (m.m). Samlet utgjør dette en forståelse knyttet til dyp symbolsk og estetisk verdi om gákti. Hvordan kan bruk av gákti bidra til følelse av tilhørighet og identitet? Dette vil bli utforsket ved å se på hvordan det å sy seg i gákti kan være en måte å nærme seg en prosess med å revitalisere samiske identitet. Bruk av gákti kan aktivisere handlinger som bidrar til identitetsskapende prosesser og tilhørighet til samisk kultur.
