Matematikk, motivasjon og matlaging

Abstract

Hensikten med studien var å finne ut hvordan man kan fremme elevers motivasjon i matematikk. Med utgangspunkt i motivasjonsteori planla jeg et undervisningsopplegg i måling av vekt der elevene skulle utforske og brukte kunnskapen sin om måling av vekt på skolekjøkkenet. Studiens problemstilling er: Hvordan kan elevenes motivasjon for matematikk fremmes gjennom et praktisk undervisningsopplegg i mat og helse? Studien har også et forskningsspørsmål: Hvordan kommer motivasjon til uttrykk når elevens opplevelse av mestring, autonomi og tilhørighet planlegges og ivaretas i undervisningsopplegget? Studien tar utgangspunkt i selvbestemmelsesteorien og forventing om mestring. Jeg har samlet inn kvalitativ data gjennom observasjon, fokusgruppeintervju og spørreundersøkelser. Jeg analyserte dataene induktivt gjennom koding og kategorisering. Funnene mine antyder at elevenes opplevelse av autonomi var mest betydningsfullt for deres motivasjon.
