Abstract

Helsetjenesteassosierte infeksjoner er et stort problem for pasientsikkerheten. Pasientene belastes med lengre sykehusopphold, langtidsbehandling med antibiotika, re-operasjoner, smerter og alvorlig komplikasjoner som sepsis, tap av funksjon og i verste fall liv. I Norge opereres over ti tusen pasienter med innsetting eller utskifting av et kunstig hofteledd (leddprotese) på grunn av sykdom i leddet. Pasientene blir fulgt opp i 30 dager etter utskrivelse med tanke på infeksjon i operasjonsområdet. På sykehuset hvor jeg jobber som anestesisykepleier ble det rapportert flere tilfeller av dype sårinfeksjoner. Hensikten med min studie er å legge frem kunnskap om gjennomføringen av de preoperative prosedyrene og utfordringene som sykepleierne møter med fokus på forebygging av postoperative dype sårinfeksjoner. Denne studien har en kvalitativ tilnærming. Fokusgruppeintervju med et utvalg som består av fire sykepleiere som daglig underviser, informerer og assisterer de pasientene i forbindelse med preoperative forberedelser i en ortopedisk sengepost er gjennomført.
