Abstract

The presence in a society of elementary handwriting typologies and of those belonging to subordinate classes partially alphabetised can not be interpreted in a strict sequential way. The examples provided in two particular moments of the history of Modern Europe, from the year four hundred to the year five hundred and from the year seven hundred to the year eight hundred, confirms the necessity of a critical approximation suitable for the complexity of this problem

La presencia en una sociedad de tipologías escriptorias elementales y de las pertenecientes a las clases subalternas parcialmente alfabetizadas no puede ser interpretada en un modo rígidamente secuencial; los ejemplos suministrados por dos momentos particulares de la historia de la Europa moderna, el paso del Cuatrocientos al Quinientos, y del Setecientos al Ochocientos, confirman la necesidad de una aproximación crítica adecuada a la complejidad del problema

Die Existenz an einer Gesellschaft schriftlicher grundlegenden Typologien und die der untergeordneten und teilweise alphabetisierten Schichten kann nicht einfach hintereinanderfolgend interpretiert werden. Zwei konkreten, der europaischen Geschichte angehórenden Beispielen, der Uebergang vom 15. zum 16. Jahrhundert und der vom 18. zum 19. Jahrhundert, bestatigen den Bedarf an einer kritischen, der Verwicklung des Problems angemessenen Annaherung

La présence dans une société de typologies d'écritures élémentaires et de celles qui concernent les classes subalternes partiellement alphabétisées ne peut être interprétée d'une façon rigidement séquentielle; les exemples fournis par deux moments particuliers de l'histoire de l'Europe moderne, le passage du XIVème au XVème, et du XVIIème au XVIIIème, confirment la nécessité d'une approche critique appropriée á la complexité d'un problème
