Abstract

Aid localization in humanitarian emergencies along with the Grand Bargain represent key areas of reflection and action in the field of contemporary humanitarian assistance. In a world marked by crises and disasters of increasing proportions, the need for an effective humanitarian response focused on affected communities is more pressing than ever. Aid localization refers to the process of strengthening the capacity of local organizations to lead as well as coordinate humanitarian response in their own communities, recognizing their unique contextual knowledge, resources and skills. On the other hand, the Grand Bargain, established during the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit, seeks to transform the way humanitarian action is delivered, promoting the participation of local actors as well as flexibility in financing and program implementation. In this research, we will explore the principles, challenges in addition to opportunities associated with aid localization and the Grand Bargain, highlighting their importance in the search for a more inclusive, effective, and needs-centered humanitarian response in communities affected by crises and disasters around the world.
