La tercera edad es una etapa de la vida en la que se tienen necesidades específicas y, por tal motivo, se realizan ciertos gastos, se perciben determinados tipos de renta o bien se llevan a cabo algunos negocios jurídicos concretos. El objeto del presente trabajo consiste en examinar el gasto público dirigido a tal sector poblacional así como también la fiscalidad de las rentas, operaciones y consumos realizados por las personas mayores en lo que concierne a los distintos tributos ?esencialmente impuestos? de nuestro ordenamiento, a fin de examinar la realidad fiscal y la conveniencia de la actual regulación o, eventualmente, la oportunidad de posibles cambios normativos que podrían mejorar las condiciones sociales de quienes se encuentran en edad de jubilación.

Old age is a stage in life when one has specific needs and therefore certain expenses are incurred, certain types of income are received, or certain specific legal transactions are carried out. The aim of this paper is to examine public spending on the elderly as well as the taxation of income, transactions and consumption by the elderly in respect of various taxes of our system, in order to examine the nowdays taxation, the appropriateness of the current regulation or, eventually, the opportunity of possible regulatory changes that could improve the social conditions of those of retirement age.
