Vegetarianismo como derecho de libertad de creencias

Vegetarianism as a right of freedom of belief

Vegetarianismo como derecho de libertad de creencias

Abstract

The recognition of vegetarianism by international law as a belief under the protection of the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion has not experienced immediate effects in practice. Despite the fact that democratic states are guarantors of freedom of conscience and respect for people's convictions, including those of vegetarians and vegans, as philosophical and ethical choices, in most European countries, in certain circumstances these people cannot exercise their right: they do not have access to plant-based foods. However, some countries have made progress, approving legislation regarding this problem.
