Studies on the Myxomycetes of Catamarca (Argentina) I

Abstract

Forty-eight collections were included in this study, represening a total of 21 different species of myxomycetes. Fourteen species (Arcyria affinis, Badhamia gigantospora, B. gracilis, Diachea leucopodia, Didymium difforme, D. melanospermum, D. squamulosum, Hemitrichia calyculata, H. parviverrucospora, Lycogala flavofuscum, Metatrichia horrida, Oligonema affine, Physarella oblonga, and Physarum album) are new records for Catamarca, while two species (Didymium flexuosum and Physarum gravidum) are new records for Argentina. Optical and scanning electron micrographs are provided, and they illustrate the most relevant morphological characters of those species that are rare or not previously reported for Argentina. A checklist of Myxomycetes from Catamarca is also provided herein.
