Airborne radars play a crucial role in both civilian and military domains. These systems are essential for air traffic control, surveillance and reconnaissance of targets, detection and tracking of objects, mapping, and a wide range of additional applications. This study explores the fundamental concepts of radar, progressing to more advanced topics such as waveform analysis and the resolution of range and velocity ambiguities. A practical simulation conducted in MATLAB is included, where various ambiguity scenarios are examined, and solutions for their resolution are proposed. Finally, the study provides an overview of some of the airborne radar systems currently available in the military market, offering insights into the pivotal role radars play in modern defense operations.
