Abstract

Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a type of child maltreatment that affects children worldwide and generates consequences that affect them biologically, psychologically and socially. The aim of this systematic review is to analyze the consequences of CSA on sexuality. In turn, to identify the general physical, cognitive, emotional and social consequences both in the short term (childhood and adolescence) and in the long term (adulthood). Through the databases Dialnet, PsycINFO and Web of Science, 17 scientific investigations were selected between 2010 and 2023. After analysis of the results found, the consequences on sexuality are analyzed and classified into four different areas: physiological and/or behavioral, cognitive, psychological and/or affective and relational. The analysis reveals that although CSA impacts sexuality as a whole, no specific pattern of symptoms or consequences can be configured due to the great heterogeneity of the scientific literature.
