Turismo, arquitectura y sociedad.

Abstract

Little looks like the current tourism to the practiced a few decades ago due to the consolidation of three related phenomena: exponential increase in the number of travellers and business volume, decrease of the travels duration and emergence of new ways of perceiving and interact with the visited places. One of the most visible manifestations of this new panorama is a growing presence of the imaginaries in ways of understanding, projecting and managing tourist destinations, independent of their scale. The ways in which the imaginaries influence on the comprehension, configuration and management of the places that receive tourists, are multiple and difficult to trace, but our studies show that it is possible to speak of three generalizable effects: the imaginaries are Determinants, Profitables and Disturbing. The main objective of this article is to analyze these effects, focusing on their origin, characteristics and practical implications.
