OBJECTIVE To study the cytocolpohistological correlation in premalignant and malignant lesions of the cervix in women between 25 and 65 years old at the Gómez Ulla Central Defense Hospital. PATIENTS AND METHODS A retrospective descriptive study of an observational and cross-sectional type was performed. The population included in the study was formed of those women between the ages of 25 and 65, with altered cervical screening cytology, asymptomatic and who were referred to the Gómez Ulla Central Defense Hospital for colposcopic study and, eventually, histopathological study from January 1st, 2017 to December 31st, 2018. The variables to be studied have been obtained from the clinical histories available on the Balmis computer platform. A frequency distribution of the cytocolpohistological findings was performed in the sample and their correlation with patient variables and diagnostic tests were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 statistical program. RESULTS A total sample of 128 patients with altered cytology was obtained, 84,4% of them with low-grade lesion, and 15,6% with high-grade lesion. The 16,5% of the colposcopic results were normal, 56,7% grade 1 results and 26,8% grade 2. Regarding the biopsy, 39% of the patients obtained normal results, 41% low grade and 20% high grade. The cytocolposcopic correlation was 59.1%, the cytohistological correlation was 53.3%, both with statistically significant results. The colpohistological correlation was 41.4%, being these not significant. CONCLUSIONS The cytohistological correlation is greater in high-grade lesions than in low-grade lesions. It was not obtained an adequate colposhitological correlation.
