Introduction: Proton-Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are antiulcerous drugs frequently used, sometimes without justified signs, according to scientific evidence. Materials and methods: DUS retrospective indication-prescription in Traumatology and Internal Medicine Services at Hospital Central de la Defensa in March 2021; Objective: To Value the adequate use of PPI; Consecutive, not probability sampling, N= 125. Descriptive statistical analysis. Results: 63,2% (79/125) of patients were prescribed with Proton-pump inhibitors when discharged, adapting to data sheet in 25,3%. When studying the adequacy of the prescriptions of Proton-pump inhibitors to the Clinical Practice Guidelines in the prevention of secondary gastropathy with gastrolesive drugs, the percentage increased up to 77,2%. It was eight times more frequent to have a Proton-pump inhibitor prescribed in the Traumatology Unit than in the Internal Medicine Unit, with statistically significant differences (OR: 7,87; CI95%: 2,24-27,68). There were no significant differences between both Services regarding other variables such as age, gender or polymedication. The drugs that caused a higher frequency in the use of Proton-pump inhibitors were anticoagulants, with a big margin for improvement in other therapeutical groups (Corticoids, SSRIs, Antiaggregants) or with polymedication. Conclusions: Adequacy of PPI treatment in 77,2% (Data sheet and Clinical Practice Guidelines). Improvement of PPI prescription in relation to the use of PPI with corticoids, SSRIs, antiaggregants or polymedication is evidenced.
