Abstract

El citomegalovirus humano (HCMV), es un virus de gran incidencia mundial. Aunque habitualmente asintomático, en grupos de riesgo puede tener consecuencias más graves. A pesar de su gran importancia en salud pública y de los esfuerzos llevados a cabo para desarrollar terapias efectivas contra el virus, no se dispone de ninguna vacuna ni tratamiento que confiera protección frente al HCVM. Ante la búsqueda de nuevas terapias surge el interés en la respuesta ADCC y su papel en la protección frente a la infección por HCMV. El estudio de la respuesta ADCC en 30 pacientes SOT convalecientes a la infección muestra que esta respuesta está presente en la mayoría de ellos. Los resultados mostraron además que gran parte de los pacientes presentaron títulos de ADCC ≥320, lo que podría indicar protección frente a la infección y que esta se mantenía durante el tiempo de estudio. Ante estos precedentes, la respuesta ADCC podría ser una parte fundamental para la protección frente a HCMV y podría ser importante para el desarrollo de nuevas vacunas y terapias más específicas.
