Introduction: A large percentage of the female population will eventually suffer some Premenstrual Syndrome’s (PMS) symptom; however, this percentage is decreased in the case of symptoms that prevent them from doing their daily activities with normality. The Premenstrual Syndrome is a set of physical, psychological and behavioral symptoms, that occur during the last days of luteal phase, that is, the previous days of the menstruation. There are different types of treatments for PMS, within non-pharmacological, physical exercise could be very useful in this population. Objectives: The main theoretical objective of this work was to analyze the recent scientific literature on the use of physical exercise as non-pharmacological treatment to alleviate the symptoms of PMS. On the other hand, the main experimental objective was to examine the effects of strength training on the physical and psychological symptoms collected within the PMS. Methods: In the theoretical part, a systematic review was carried following the PRISMA methodology. The seach was carried out in PudMed, SPORTDiscuss (EBSCO) and Web of Science databases, collecting articles published between January 1, 2012, and April 1, 2022. In the experimental part 4 women participant attended for 4 weeks to realize a resistance training based of velocity, and it was analyzed the PMS symptoms by the MEDI-Q questionnaire, as well as the mood by the POMS questionnaire. Results: In the theoretical part, of the total of 53 articles were initially identified, 9 met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were finally included in the review. Most of these studies used aerobic endurance exercise, but also included studies using mobility and strengthening exercises with own body mass. In most cases, physical exercise improved symptoms of PMS, specifically the intensity of pain in the lower back and abdominal area. On the other hand, the experimental part has obtained improvements in tension (-9,38%), depression (-25,73%) and fatigue (-7,78%), also there were changes, but not statistically significant, in vigor (-0,99%), in confusion (0,36%), and an increase in the feeling of ager (5,13%). Regarding the results obtained in the MEDI-Q Questionnaire, there are a statistically no significant decrease of 8,14%, producing improvements in PMS in 2 participants (47,9% y 30,6%) and increasing in the other 2 (13% y 8,1%).
