Abstract

During the 19th century and as a result of globalisation, large migratory flows have been taking place, the main causes of which are social differences, poverty and the need to seek a better future in countries with more opportunities. These migratory flows have also led to the emergence of new forms of criminality and, therefore, the criminalisation of illegal conduct. This study analyses all the legislative and institutional mechanisms that States have created to deal with the crime against foreign nationals, a crime that represents an attack on the physical and moral integrity of thousands of migrants every day
