Abstract

The introduction of exotic species into the peninsula is one of the main losses of biodiversity that exist. Such is important that eradication plans must be made so that these species do not spread or displace native species. Most of the exotic species that have been imported into Spain are mainly due to sport fishing, although aquaculture and aquaculture are also major risk factors that favour the arrival of exotic species. Not only that, but in recent years these species have considerably increased their distribution patterns in all the peninsular basins, as is the example of the Guadiana basin, of great importance because of the number of native species that inhabit it. In this work, by making distribution maps of the different inland fish introduced in this basin, we will observe the scope and impacts of these species. To this end, a bibliographic review has been made of all the studies that have been published from 2001 to 2022, due to the fact that so far there has not been a complete study of this nature, being necessary for an update on the situation of the basin. Have these species expanded considerably in recent years? How can we respond to this problem? How will this affect our fauna in the long term? Is climate change a determining factor in the settlement of these species?
