"Clades dominorum" en Tiro

Abstract

Justinus, in his known epitome of the work of Pompeius Trogus, speaks about a rebellion in Tire that ended the life of all the freemen of the city except one (Iust, Epit. XVIII, 3, 7-15). The article investigates the true scope and sense of this information, its real political meaning and its consequences: a change of political and social regime in Tire, sanctioned by the Neo-Babylonian Empire; a change which had a great transcendence in the Tyrian and Phoenician colonial world, especially for Carthage, that could claim to be inheritor of the original Tire. The article also investigates the nature of the sources of this passage in Pompeius Trogus.

Epit. XVIII, 3, 7-15).
