Abstract

Collective defenders of human rights have appeared in legal systems around the world as a response to different types of contexts of conflict and Injustices and, as they have become more relevant, independent and politically influential, it's then when we begin to see diverse resistance from some power structures that respond by hindering their work, discrediting the organization and its members, then it is logical to ask: who defends the defender? Attacks and harassment of collective defenders in Latin America are becoming increasingly evident and can help to identify the vulnerabilities that the collective defenders of human rights suffers in general. The context in which collective defenders live is changing, and consequently the organization must also change so that it can continue to fulfil its role. Understanding the a priori ethical demands made by the different administrative layers of the State in relation to the interventions of collective defenders will be fundamental in order to begin to identify the changes required to strengthen the organization and recognize its work.
