Abstract

Los Sistemas Urbanos de Drenaje Sostenibles (SUDS) son parte de las nuevas estrategias de desarrollo sostenible que se están aplicando a nivel mundial debido a su adaptación con las tecnologías verdes, beneficios ambientales y soluciones sustentables. El desarrollo de las ciudades con su continua expansión ha reducido drásticamente las zonas permeables por lo que el ciclo natural del agua ha cambiado, como consecuencia de esto cada vez se presentan más problemas como inundaciones, contaminación de cuerpos de agua, etc. Los sistemas de drenaje convencionales se centran solamente en captar las escorrentías superficiales y drenarlas lo más rápido posible de las zonas impermeables. En cambio, los SUDS se enfocan en el verdadero valor de este recurso, centrando sus diseños de manera en la cual la escorrentía no solo sea llevada al medio receptor, sino que busca las maneras en las que pueda ser aprovechada. Este trabajo presenta una recopilación bibliográfica de SUDS, en la cual se presenta su clasificación, beneficios, limitaciones, caracterización y funciones de cada sistema, así como las consideraciones y criterios a utilizar cuando se lleva a cabo el proceso de selección y diseño. Además, se presenta un caso de estudio en una sección de la Avenida Roble, ubicada en la ciudad de Tegucigalpa, Honduras. En esta se analiza el proceso de diseño, selección y análisis para proponer una solución mediante SUDS a una zona con problemas de inundación.
