Binomio agua energía: agua para la energía

Abstract

El agua y la energía son recursos de vital importancia, estos son los que han garantizado el desarrollo de la humanidad. Son interdependientes; es decir, la energía es necesaria para el suministro de agua, interviniendo en sus sistemas de recolección, transporte, distribución, bombeo, desalación, tratamiento y consumo de agua; y para la mayoría de las fuentes de energía que incluyen la generación de electricidad y producción de energía primaria, el agua es indispensable para sus procesos; entre ellos están la refrigeración de centrales térmicas, riego para biocombustibles, extracción de materias primas, limpieza y funcionamiento de turbinas. Este último, agua para la energía, que si bien es cierto, es un capítulo muy extenso, es el tema que se analizará de manera general en este trabajo de fin de máster, ya que lo he considerado un tema de gran interés y gran vulnerabilidad a nivel mundial debido a que sus limitaciones y demandas están creciendo cada vez más debido a múltiples factores. Es importante tener en cuenta la cantidad de agua que se requiere y la que se consume para el proceso de generación de energía; cada tecnología es diferente y requiere volúmenes diferentes de agua. Analizaremos que papel desarrolla el agua en los diferentes tipos de energía, su demanda, y finalmente soluciones que garanticen un futro sostenible para el sector energético.
