The socio-economic order as the framework for business transnationality

Abstract

The relationship between each country’s socio-economic order, not only in its regulatory dimension but also in terms of how it affects its economic and social culture and the thrust of a business' indispensable transnationality, has for decades been the key to the development of nations. Openness was, and is, the undisputed business reference. The increasingly open and global inter-relationship between a business and its environment is intensified due to the permeabilisation of both the business and its environment. Today and in the future a business increasingly blends into and integrates the determining elements of the transnational environment. The emphasis upon "Business Governance" in its most diverse meanings is the dearest illustration of this rapid trend towards business change and transformation. This necessarily involves a constant "change management" of the business' orientation towards the individual. The privatisation and deregulation of the economy have contributed to the whole of the above, although the complex tasks of institutional transformation ("reforms") are still to be addressed
