Todas las agrupaciones humanas necesitan un orden y una disciplina que hagan posible una convivencia ordenada. En el ámbito de las prisiones, es la Administración penitenciaria quien ejercerá la potestad disciplinaria con el fin de mantener el buen orden regimental y corregir las conductas de aquellos penados que atenten contra el mismo, debido a la relación de sujeción especial existente entre ellos. En este trabajo estudiaré la aplicación de la potestad disciplinaria bajo el marco de sus principios esenciales, la relación del penado con la administración, y las sanciones impuestas a las diferentes infracciones y faltas disciplinarias que se pueden cometer por el recluso. Y analizaré el sistema de faltas y sanciones en el Derecho Penitenciario de Panamá, en comparación con el español.

All human groups need order and discipline that make possible an orderly coexistence. In the area of prisons, is the prison Administration who shall exercise the legal authority disciplinary in order to maintain good regimental order and correct the behaviors of those sentenced to infringe upon it, due to the relationship of existing special holding between them. In this paper I will study the application of the disciplinary authority under part of its essential principles, the relationship of the punishable with the Administration, and imposed sanctions to different offences and disciplinary fouls that they can commit the inmate. And I will analyze the system of absences and penalties in the Penitentiary Law of Panama, compared to the Spanish system.
