La finalidad de este trabajo es contribuir al debate sobre el papel jugado por las universidades en los distritos industriales, ante una situación de cambio del entorno competitivo. Para ello realizamos un estudio longitudinal de un distrito con serios problemas de competitividad, mediante el uso de técnicas de Análisis de Redes Sociales. Los resultados nos muestran cómo el distrito ha cambiado en cuanto a la distribución de su capital relacional. En concreto se muestra una importancia creciente de las relaciones de las empresas del distrito con la universidad, justificado tanto por un aumento en la densidad de las mismas, así como por una mayor centralidad de su función.
The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the debate on the role played by universities in industrial districts, faced with a situation of change in the competitive environment. We conduct a longitudinal study of a district with serious problems of competitiveness, using techniques of Social Network Analysis. The results show how the district has changed the distribution of its relational capital. In particular we detectan increasingly importance of relationships between companies and the University, evidenced by an increase in the density of relations between them, as well as a more central role played by university.
