Abstract

Legionella is an environmental bacteria which can survive in a wide interval of conditions physical-chemical, it presents 48 species with more than 70 serogroups being Legionella pneumophila the causal agent which is the most frequent produces legionelosis, obligatory declaration illness, in the one are differentiate two clinic forms: the lung infection or “Legionnaires´ disease”, which it presents with high fever pneumonia , and the non-pneumonic form knows as “Pontiac fever” that it is shown like a sharp and self-limited febrile syndrome. The infection´s transmission is made by air tract, it can acquire inside of the community or hospital area, making outbreaks or sporadic cases. This final degree work is focused to pharmacist ‘s intervention on legionelosis´ prevention and control in risk facilities as: domestic hot water (DHW) and cooling towers (cooling equipment by water in an air flow´s spread), recognized as facilities with more Legionella´s proliferation and spread probability, being very important a correct installation of these structures and a correct maintenance, security and control of these, to avoid that their transformation in the contamination´s focal point.
