Análisis y simulación de PMUs

Abstract

In this degree final Project, a study and analysis of the phasor measurement systems is done, for its utility in the control and supervision of the power grids. In particular, the project focuses on the PMU (Phasor Measurement Unit), and two of the algorithms used on it: DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) model, most commonly used, and a PLL (Phase Locked Loop) based model. As an introduction, the concept of syncrophasor is defined. A scheme of the measurement units is presented, and the whole system in which they are englobed. A brief submission of the standard that rule those systems. The first method studied is the DFT one, which is explained with the Fourier series as starting point, its transform, and analyzing its performance in a concise way. Hereafter, distinct algorithms of phasor measurement by DFT are presented, with the adaptions against different disturbances in an input signal. Finally, an algorithm implementation model is shown, as it has been raised. Next, the PLL based method is studied, explaining first the fundaments of a PLL, and then introducing the concept of EPLL, model to be used in the further simulations. The linearity of this model is analyzed, its internal parameters adjust in a theoretical way in order to get the best results, and the different modifications to be added for, as in the DFT method, adapt the algorithm to the disturbances that could appear in the input signal. Lastly, several simulations are realized with the MATLAB-SIMULINK software, firstly step by step for all the parameters and modifications explained before, checking the good behavior against different kinds of input, and finally, putting all together and raising a final model. A varied set of proofs are made over this last model, analyzing its throughput.
