The long financial and economic crisis raises the question of the need for an in-depth revision of the present knowledge of both financial and economic theory. For decades, this knowledge has been the dominant current of thought. The search for a new economic paradigm is the base reference if we are to respond effectively to the present situation. Figures such as Phelps approach it as a difficult critical situation in thought both in theory and in practical reality. The economy per se is a constitutive part of Society and as such must be conceived, approached and resolved. The economy, together with the individual, is key elements with regard to towards where the new paradigm must be oriented. This contribution focuses on articulating the economic paradigm in its gesellschaftlich, or business dimension in order to achieve both economic efficiency and "social efficiency", components of the social development of individuals, of the consolidation of institutions and of confidence in the institutions. Not only do the values systems illustrate preferences, but they also illustrate the cooperation and the configuration of the institutions which give rise to high productivity in the relationships between people and institutions, reduce the costs of operating in a vacuum.

La larga crisis financiera y económica plantea la necesidad de una revisión a fondo del actual conocimiento teórico tanto financiero como económico que ha constituido durante muchas décadas la corriente de pensamiento dominante. La búsqueda de un nuevo paradigma económico constituye la referencia básica si se quiere dar una respuesta eficiente a la situación actual. Personalidades como Phelps lo plantean como una clara situación crítica en el pensamiento tanto teórico como en la realidad práctica. La economía como tal es parte constitutiva de la Sociedad y como tal debe ser concebida, planteada y resuelta. La economía con el hombre es la clave hacia donde debe orientarse el nuevo paradigma. Esta contribución se centra en la articulación del paradigma económico en su dimensión "gesellschaftlich", (societaria) para lograr tanto la eficiencia económica como la "eficiencia social (societaria) componentes del desarrollo social de las personas como la consolidación y confianza en las instituciones. El sistema de valores no solo marca las preferencias, sino el propio desarrollo de la cooperación y la configuración de las instituciones que origina una alta productividad en las relaciones entre personas e instituciones, reduce los costes de marcha en vacío.
