The European Union needs to become more attractive to highly qualified workers and, for those coming from third countries, this should be done by implementing consistent border control, asylum and immigration policies. In order to find a balance between talent attraction and immigration control, Directive 2009/50, which established entry and residence for third country nationals, has been repealed by the Directive 2021/1883 which will expand the subjective and objective scope of the previous one by providing more advantages for this type of employment. The attached work gathers the changes featured on the new Directive, analysing its impact on Spanish domestic Law and its two legal channel for employment applications: Directive 2009/50 transposed into LO 4/2000 and Law14/2013
