Under the 1995 Unidroit Convention on stolen or illegally exported cultural objects and the Directive 2014/60/ EU on the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a Member State, the country from whose territory a cultural object has been unlawfully removed can request the return of the object before the courts of the country where the object is located.
