En virtud del Convenio de Unidroit de 1995, sobre bienes culturales robados o exportados ilegalmente y la Directiva 2014/60/UE relativa a la restitución de bienes culturales que hayan salido de forma ilegal del territorio de un Estado miembro, el país del que un bien cultural ha salido ilegalmente puede solicitar su devolución ante los tribunales del país en el que se encuentra el bien. Ambos instrumentos se basan en el nacionalismo cultural.
Under the 1995 Unidroit Convention on stolen or illegally exported cultural objects and the Directive 2014/60/ EU on the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a Member State, the country from whose territory a cultural object has been unlawfully removed can request the return of the object before the courts of the country where the object is located. Both regulations are based on cultural nationalism.
