La información deportiva tiene una audiencia universal y es su carácter universal y enorme proyección a todas las capas de la sociedad lo que hace que su influencia pueda ser decisiva en la concepción del deporte y en la promoción deportiva y, por qué no, en la concepción de las mujeres. Analizar qué ocurre en los centros universitarios apoyado con datos sobre el quehacer periodístico actual en Internet permite mostrar un panorama de retroceso, donde la imagen de las mujeres está estereotipada y las deportistas aumentan su desequilibrio respecto a los hombres.
